Ancona, Italy, December 11, 2024 – The LIFE PROMETHEUS project, coordinated by the Università Politecnica delle Marche (UNIVPM) and co-financed by the EU LIFE+ Funding Programme, participated in the final event of the LIFE DELFI project, held on December 11, 2024, at the Mole Vanvitelliana in Ancona, Italy. The event, titled “Una convivenza possibile tra delfini e pescatori” (A Possible Coexistence Between Dolphins and Fishers), marked the conclusion of LIFE DELFI’s efforts to foster better relationships between fishermen and marine mammals in the region.
The event was attended by 85 participants, including stakeholders, scientists, policymakers, and community members. During the final conference, the LIFE DELFI project presented a review of its activities, goals, and significant achievements, emphasizing the collaborative efforts between fishers and conservationists to ensure the protection of dolphin populations and the sustainable management of fisheries.
The LIFE PROMETHEUS project, with its focus on marine conservation and the protection of vulnerable marine species, including dolphins, was actively involved in discussing future conservation strategies and how they align with the lessons learned from LIFE DELFI. The LIFE PROMETHEUS team highlighted ongoing projects and initiatives aimed at mitigating human-wildlife conflicts and ensuring the long-term health of marine ecosystems.
